How Does it Work?
|
MotorSilk® and LubriSilk® formulations produce a unique chemical process that adds an extremely hard microscopic layer to all metal surfaces it contacts. This nano-scale boundary layer provides long-term protection to the metal and significant reductions in friction, heat and wear between moving parts.
When you pour MotorSilk® in your engine, your fuel system and transmission, the patented Boron CLS Bond® technology in MotorSilk® creates a hardened boric oxide layer that is covalently bonded to all the metal surfaces. This extremely hard 20 nanometer thick boric oxide layer shares electrons with the metal in a nearly permanent covalent bond. Then a reaction between the boric oxide layer and moisture from the surrounding air produces a ‘stack’ of boric acid crystal platelets, called a ‘crystal lattice structure’.
MotorSilk® is the only commercially available engine treatment that produces this stacked ‘crystal lattice structure’.
The crystal lattice structure grows to a thickness of 300 nanometers or about 12 millionths of an inch (.000012”). The crystal structure on MotorSilk® treated surfaces glides with a coefficient of friction 8-10 times lower than any petroleum oil or synthetic oil alone. The crystals gliding on crystals with extraordinarily low friction and the loosely bound stack of platelets, is what enables MotorSilk® to produce the un-matched reduction in friction between moving parts.
The outer layers of crystal platelets can easily break away under extreme pressure, but the crystal platelets grow back in a continuous chemical reaction. The boric oxide continuously reacts with moisture in the environment, to replenish the crystals, even when extreme pressure wears them away. The nearly permanent 20 nanometer boric oxide layer provides enough boron, at a molecular level, to regenerate the crystal platelets in the 300 nanometer outer layer. This is what enables one treatment of MotorSilk® to last in your engine for 100,000 miles, delivering increased mileage and radically reduced wear which delivers lower maintenance costs and extended service life.
In addition to the lubricating attributes of MotorSilk®, the chemical reaction cleans and protects100% of the metal surfaces against harmful oxides and corrosive agents. The system protection features together with extreme pressure lubrication yield up to 80% reductions in friction and 90% reduction in wear. |
